While browsing some of my favorite blogs I came across a post (by Creature Comforts) recommending a website called MINTED. You can design or order some really interesting, pretty, and unique wedding annoucments, personal stationary, and baby announcements.

While I don't really have use for those, I was hoping to be able to order business cards for networking during NeoCon. Does anyone know of a website that makes awesome business cards for a decent price? (I know there is Microsoft Office Online which will print you around 500 cards for free - but they put their name on the back and I would prefer not to have that.)

Currently I am stoked about the portfolio cover I just ordered from fastportfolio.com ... it is from Pina Zagaro and is made of bamboo. Although its a bit pricey for a recent college grad ($136.00 if you want your own) I see it as and investment towards future employment (crossing my fingers).

On Saturday I got the opportunity to attend a workshop to learn the 3D modeling program Google SketchUp courtesy of IIDA. Not only is this program super user friendly and easy to pick up, it's also very fast and very fun! I could sing it's praises all day! It doesn't render quite nearly as well as Revit or AutoCAD but APPARENTLY there is a plug in or add on of some sort to improve that feature. If you know anything about that - let me know! :) Here is a little something I did while playing with the program during the workshop:

How to Define yourself ...

Tonight I have been thinking a lot about who I am. What kind of person am I? What do others see of me? DO I have any real opinions of my own, or am I just mimicking what I have heard other more educated people say? I'd like to think that I have my own mind, my own take on things, my own personality. I'd like to think I have some qualities that make me uniquely myself. The more I think about it the more I realize how much I let others influence me. I don't think that is always a bad thing, because others help you learn and grow into a more knowledgeable person. I guess I am just concern that I am letting others define me - instead of being my own person. I want to make my own decisions, state my own opinions, and in general not have to rely on others for a stance on ..well anything! Politics, art, pop culture, music, fashion ....

I guess what I am saying is even though I am a pretty extroverted person, it doesn't always mean I have confidence in myself. And I regret that. I guess I want to change and believe more in myself and not let others talk me down to a point where I am convinced I am wrong and they are right.

Nothing says America better then the good old sport of Baseball in the middle of July. Today and my family went to a minor league game in my home town of Midland. Our small city owns the team called the Midland Loons. We brought our relatives from New York, my Aunt, Uncle, and two young cousins. We had a blast and I don't think anyone had more fun then the kids! Which was the goal. Take a look. :)

Quite a few summers ago I went on a two week mission trip to South Dakota and worked on an Native American reservation. While I was there we did have an opportunity to shop at some small local stores, and to my delight I picked up some beautiful authentic "Indian" jewelry. Now, that was not the point of the trip and I did learn lots and build a few things, but those were the keep sakes I got to bring home with me. Ever since that trip I have held a fascination with Native American culture, art, and of course accessories. I feel in love with this Jessica Simpson Woodstock Cross-body purse. Not only to I love this style of purse (so convenient!) but I love the leather + bead combo. Would go perfect with the jewelry I already have! :) At only $88 right now it would be a great birthday gift (wink wink). If only I hadn't already asked for an external hard drive.

So I am about as far as anyone to getting married. However, I am a huge wedding buff and friends often tease me about reading wedding magazines and talking about my future nuptials. I even considered being a wedding planner at one point because I love them so much. Today I found myself having a Friday night in watching TLC's Say Yes To The Dress and decided to check out their selection of dresses for myself. On Kleinfeld's(This is the store where the show takes place, located in NYC) website has a great way to search for your perfect dress. You can select everything from silhouette, to neckline, to designer. I favor sheath dresses, sweetheart necklines, and delicate cap sleeves. What can I say? I'm slightly traditional. I found quite a few dresses I would love to wear on my day. One in particular caught my special attention. A beautiful sheath dress by Claire Pettibone, a California-based designer. The really nice thing about this store is the special attention each client gets and the amazing amount of selection they have in dresses. You get to see this on the show which is why I LOVE watching it. There are always some interesting brides, I especially love the melt downs.

So I know that I cannot live without my hair straightener (or flat iron, is you prefer that phrase). Without that thing my hair is a hot mess. When my three year old, tried and true flat iron died this spring I sadly retired it to the trash and went on a hunt for a new one. I already knew I wanted a CHI. My friends use this brand and having had used theirs I knew it would get hot enough to tame my. at times, wire-like curls. Fortunately for me my search did not last long. After checking out a few websites for prices I found Misikko.com which not only had the best price, it looked legit (you never know with the internet). I decided to take a leap of faith and ordered a CHI flat iron for less then half of its normal retail price from the site and to my delight it came fast and flawless.

Now, the CHI is not without is downfalls. It is known to just stop working for no apparent reason (or totally blow out if you take it to Europe and plug it into those stupid European outlets). So I was not surprised when mine did. But Misikko customer service was prompt with email replies and when I told them my issue they exchanged the broken appliance for a new one free of charge. The CHI has a year long warranty, but Misikko did not have to cover the shipping costs and they graciously did. In summary I HIGHLY recommend this site for any purchasing of hair appliance.

I just spent the first week of the new year in Orlando with my parents! We had a wonderful vacation visiting the Disney parks and brought along my best friend from home, Marilyn. We stayed in the Marriott World Resort and Conference Center and it was AMAZING!

We went to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I wanted to take pictures with as many characters as possible, and fortunately for me, luck was on my side. Here are a few.

A lot of the times I am looking for furniture. Possibly one of the better finds I stumbled across (while looking through blogs no less!) was vivani.com. Vivani is a line of contemporary sustainable furniture from various designers. Its chic and safe. Vivani was founded by Josh Dorfman who is also author of the book "The Lazy Environmentalist".

Just thought I'd update since I can't sleep a wink. I have no idea what is wrong with me. Except now I have turned into a complete insomniac. Being home from college on break is driving me crazy from boredom. So, since I can sleep I have been watching the entire first season of Gossip Girl, which perhaps is what inspired my sudden blogging. So since I'm updating I might as well gush about my new celeb crush, Jackson Rathbone. One word, YUM. :)

Ok, so I should really be studying for my one final and doing my projects but instead I decided to just update my blog. Since its the end of the semester I am reflecting what I have accomplish, which is surprisingly a lot. My classmates and I have had several tough and rather exahusting projects. Project one was our 'Nursing Home Project'. I was lucky to have a fantastic group that got a lot swimmingly. I was assigned the kitchen and dinning room, which are red and brown and featured in the presentation board below.

Second project was hand renderings of the computer generated spaces we did for the last project. I rather liked mine. This is a view of the modern kitchen I created. The quality of the photo is poor, I apologize.

I now need to get back to work on Project Three, which is actually turning out to be my favorite.

No not the kind you do at home with stickers and scissors, it's a restaurant in New York City that my friend Hannah was talking about. She said the interior decor was so inspiring that it made her want to be an interior designer. And since you don't know Hannah, let me just say that is a very extreme thing for her to say. So I checked out a feature on it in New York Magazine. I have to agree with my Hannah that it was very chic. Traditional yet contemporary. The lighting definitely defined the space in a good way, the mood it creates is amazing. I love the interior. Simple yet beautiful.

Sorry it's been awhile. I'm a busy college girl though, what can I say?

Now that it is fall, I am trying to soak everything in before it passes by. Normally I am a summer kind of girl, but this fall I think I've had a change of heart. I am in LOVE, from the changing of the trees, to the crisp air, to (of course)the autumn clothes! And this fall I've embrace the trend of panty hoes. I just recently bought two pairs of Hue tights at Macy's and I love wearing them with heals. This tread can be seen on the Fall 08 runways, from Marc Jacobs to D&G . So it's not just me.

If you ask anyone of my friends lately I've been in LOVE with plaid. It's pretty intense. I already have 4 or 5 new articles of clothing that are plaid. Lucky for me its a major trend for this season.I love the idea of a plaid dress-shirt with a belt and maybe some dark thigh highs. Mmmm ... These dress-shirts for Urban Outfitters would be ideal.

I have been drooling over this extremely overpriced Urban Outfitters scarf for a few weeks now, and just couldn't resist. It's 100% silk and gorgeous!

I would now like to brag about that fact that I got into my Interior Design program at MSU. It is a rather good program and fairly hard to get into I might add. There are only 40 spots every year and yours truly got one of them. The class that was nearly the death of me and my fellow classmates was our 252 class which was Interior Design Synthesis. The grade you got was basically one of the major decided factors in your acceptance, and the last project -- Project 3 -- determined your grade. I was very proud of mine, even though it only got a 3.1 due to some errors in my Section Plan. Regardless I still love it.

One of my best friends since 7th grade, Miss. Megan Leigeb, got married to her high school sweetheart Michael Gall on August 2, 2008.

I'm very honored that she chose me as one of her brides maids. It was a beautiful ceremony held in Midland, MI. The reception was at Apple Mountain Ski & Golf Resort and it was gorgeous!

I had so much fun with all my closest friends there! I love you guys! Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Gall :)

Leg it For Life

So the race that I have been training for all summer finally came ... and went, with surprising ease. I was quite proud of myself, thank-you-very-much! I finish, which was my goal ... and I finished with a decent time too -- 31:57 .... and I averaged a 10:17 mile. So not too bad for my first ever 5K.

Although I admit I had no idea what I was doing. I received my welcome pack with had my number a t-shirt and a little chip-thing. It took me a couple minutes to realize that the chip was my timer .... I then proceeded to wonder where to put it since I had no pockets. I was at the point of sticking it in the waistband of my running capris when I looked around and saw that you are suppose to lace them onto your shoe. WOW I felt stupid.

I also wasn't sure if you were allowed ipods -- which you are ... DUH -- so I didn't have mine. boo.

But I didn't finished last or embarrass myself so YAY!!!

I'm rather excited that investing in eco-friendly products is quickly becoming the latest trend. Being an Interior Design major and all, I myself am very into eco-friendly design, which is becoming one of the main focuses of my future industry. Designers, after all, are forever trying to solve problems and make everything more efficient. So I've been pretty busy the last week or so running back and forth between my home town and where I currently live. My best friends are twins(identical nonetheless) and one just had a baby an the other is getting married August 2, and I am a bridesmaid. So not only am I desperate to see the little boy that is practically my nephew, but I also am attending all the pre-wedding festivities. Its all very exciting, and I am so happy for them both.

Fuck you I have tennis

Long story short, last semester I had a tennis class once a week for one credit. It was fun and everything but it was on Thursday nights(which, for those non-collegiate folks is prime party time) which kinda sucked. Most of my friends forgot that I had this class. My ass-hole friend Hannah texted me before my class one night and that text said "Go get me a slurpee". So naturally, I replied "Fuck you, I have tennis". Now for some reason Hannah found this hilarious, as did Lisa who was with her. I thought it was rather rude and decided to teach them a little lesson if you will hahaha. After tennis I drove to 7-Eleven and bought a slurpee. I then proceeded to take a picture with my phone of me drinking said slurpee and texted it to Hannah and Lisa. I found it quite amusing.

Run, Forest, Run!

Ah! I know I've been neglecting this thing. Guess I'm not much of a blogger huh? Eh, I don't think anyone reads this anyways. BUT that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop trying. :D

I thought that I would share that I am training for a 5K in August. Its called Leg it for Life . Its held in my area which is Lansing/East Lansing Michigan, in case you want to sign up (Its for a good cause). It's my first ever and I am a little apprehensive. For those who might not know (because I didn't till I signed up) a 5K is about 3.1 miles. So far I've worked myself up to about 2.5 miles at a brisk pace. I don't know much about training, but I've been asking around and people have been very helpful, giving me tips and such. If you have any feel free to comment.

Dancing with the Stars

So I love the show Dancing With the Stars. Not only does it combine two of my favorite things, dancing and hott stars, but it is also quite entertaining and and original idea for a show. I love love love dancing. I was in ballet for number of years and then did Pom Pon in high school(which is like cheer and dance combined). If I could be anything I would be a professional dancer. Anyways, my favorite couple ever on the show had to be Apollo Ono and Julianne Houghs, winners from season four. I love Apollo because hes talented and I know someone that knows him(lame, i know). And Julianne is a cute girl who can also sing ... and has a country album, who knew?

Best & Worst Dressed

I always love looking at these in magazines, so here are my best and worst dressed from the VMA's.

BEST:

Liv Tyler is one of my all time favorite actresses and style icons. Shes tall and curvy like me so I'm always interested to see what she wears. I love LC and Audrina's looks from 'The Hills', those girls are too cute. Plus that show is one of my guilty pleasures! Sarah Jessica Parker - love the dress, hate the shoes. So not me. And I don't care what everyone else says, I like this girly, classy look on Paris Hilton!

WORST:

I hate Lindsey Lohan, her dress looks like napkins and she should have left her hair red. That blond SO washes her out, ew. Anne Hathaway usually does a good job, but this is indescribably bad. And I can't even comprehend what Lucy Walsh was thinking deciding to wear this ruffly mess.

And on a final side note, Will Smith and his son were so so so cute together!

A Hint of Mint

So I've been thinking a lot about my room and what color to paint it. I cant decide but now I'm leaning towards a bright, light, and almost mint green to put on my walls. The bedspread I have does have green in it, as does my sheets, so it would work. Heres some pictures showing kind of what I'm thinking.

I'm not talking about the style of the room, just the paint color. Plus none of them are quite the right shade ... but you get the jist of it. Any thoughts?

Carrie Can't Go Wrong

I'd like to think that I have a wide scope when it comes to my taste in music. When I was a kid in middle school, I was one of the 'top 40' kind of people and the first CD I ever bought was Brittany Spears. Since then I've come a long way. In high school my best friends really got me into country music, which I LOVE now. I also adore alternative, pop, R&B, classical, rap, even a little reggae. Basically everything except screaming rock and, to my friend Jessica's extreme dismay, classic rock. Not all classic rock .... just most of it.

Now to my point. I am currently OBSESSED with Carrie Underwood. I never have really watched American Idol(maybe once or twice) and I hate reality TV(except Tila Tequila - my guilty pleasure). I didn't even know about Carrie Underwood until I heard her on the radio. I instantly liked her voice, it was strong and pleasant to the ear. I bought her first CD and haven't stopped listening to it since. Her songs are like the soundtrack to my life. My two favorites from her first album are 'Lessons Learned' and ' Young and Beautiful'. But honestly they are all so good. And her latest album blew my mind. 'Flat on the Floor' is so unreal. She is just high quality if you like country music. And she is gorgeous! Her fashion choices are so elegant. She is someone I look up to, even though she is only a couple years my senior. Definitely look out for her.

I totally apologize for not posting in over a week. In my defense I've been settling into my full time work schedule and I am continuing my move in. It's completely exhausting, but I do love my job and my boss, so it's all worth it.

My best friends have left for their trip abroad, and I miss them TERRIBLY. However, I'm having a blast with my new roomie Christa. She is a complete doll, and I really think that we were made to room together. This past weekend was our first together in our new apt, and we decided to check out the local East Lansing Arts & Crafts Fair which happens each spring. It was completely adorable, and so much to look at. I enjoy people watching and there was ample opportunity, and a variety of characters there. And a lot of cute dogs! Christa and I both bought little matted, calligraphy art pieces that have our names(spelled correctly FOR ONCE) on them and their meaning. Since we practically have the same name, and since they both derived from CHRIST, they mean the same thing. But we thought they were cute. We also stumbled on a local church book sale, and got tons of books for under $2! As my friend Hannah would say 'It was UNREAL'.

We also went to Home Depot today to pick out paint colors for our apartment! I was so excited, being an Interior Design major and all. I must say I was thinking of a theme to match my bed spread that I got from target last summer. Its very girly and fanciful, with orange, green, and brown butterflies all over it.

So I was originally going to go for an orange and coffee brown color scheme. However, I stumbled across this photo once on another design blog and was very inspired by how quirky and creative the idea and color is. So I'm quite torn.

Any opinions or suggestions from my designer friends out there?? There's so many choices! Help!

I'M IN

So besides the awesome fact that I am all moved into my new and fabulous apt. (sans everything but a bed), I also received some VERY EXCITING NEWS today. For the passed two years me and my close I.D. buddies have sweat-ed, toiled, cried, hauled, and generally spent many a sleepless night all for one thing. To move up from our status as PRE-interior Design majors and be accepted into that all mighty and glorious thing know as the upper division Interior Design Program at Michigan State University. There are only 40 people taken each year. And we started with about 120 people in our class as freshman. Well thats all over now, and I am proud to say that I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THAT UPPER DIVISION INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM. Its all I have thought about, cried about, obsessed over, and feared for the last 3ish years of my life. And I can't believe it happened. :D For once in my life my hard work has paid off.

I'd also like to congratulate my three fabulous friends Jessica, Andrea, and Lisa who worked beside me the last two year for ALSO getting into the program. We did it guys!! :)

Moving.

If you have ever had to move you know how I feel right now. STRESSSSSED. My whole life is in boxes right now, I'm living out of my car, and I have no idea where my planner ended up in all that shit!!! AHHH. I also have never called a power company or cable company in my life. That was ... interesting//difficult. I get to move in tomorrow to my new apartment, and I'm pretty stoked ... mostly because I wont have to move again for another 12 mths. Also because I have a simply fabulous roommate ... my lovely CHRISTA! We meet working at the MSU police station(where we still both work) and I must say it was love at first sight lol! Shes amazing and the apartment is amazing. Moving is not amazing. Anyone got and tips to make it go smoother? Or ideas on what every apartment needs to have? Just things I should make sure not to forget.

I am SO hoping this isnt a disaster.

Roma la Citta eterna!!

If you were wondering what the name of my blog meant it is Italian for 'words are beautiful'. I thought that was appropriate since it IS a blog full of my words. I chose Italian because thats the main chunk of my heritage. Its also my favorite part of my ethnicity, which is probably why I talk about it so much(haha, sorry if your getting sick of it Jess, Lisa, and others. lol.) My dad is the one that gave me the Italian(and also German) parts of my heritage. I think I look pretty Italian, I've got the big Italian nose and olive skin. Also my last name is VERY Italian sounding (Mancroni - it also looks//sounds like macaroni). My great grandparents came over to America from the island of sicily, so like they say, I'm PURE Italian ... none of that mixed stuff. I also think that my family was once part of Italian mob, haha. Mostly because at times I think my dad could look like a mobster if he tried.

Two of my very best friends are going to Italy this summer to study abroad. I was suppose to go with them, but got wait listed for the program(MSU is SO GAY). HOWEVER, I am extremely happy and excited for them, and told them they better send me postcards(*ahem* that was another hint lis, jess). After Italy they are going to London as well! Both are a huge fan of The Beetles and other music I don't really understand, but they are going to go to Abby Road and take pictures. Also, Platform 9 3/4 at kings Crossing Train Station(Harry Potter reference :D).

Fashionista!

So I am a HUGE fashion fan, and although I am not the most knowledgeable on all the top designers (like my friend Hannah) I'd like to think I dress pretty stylishly. At least for my age & occupation ... which is a college girl with no money. I love these jeans from the Buckle, which is one of my favorite stores. I always feel denim is something you should invest in because you wear it so much. At least ... I do. These are Big Stars, and I love the wash and pocket detail(and not too expensive). SO CUTE! I have to state that I really do like and know some designers (if only I could afford it!) and Marc Jacobs is one of my absolute loves! Heres a Marc Jacobs bag that I really, really want. I feel I must say that I have a large purse fetish and this would totally satisfy my cravings.

Scarlett Johansson

So I have been dying to comment on the fact that Scarlett Johansson is singing. I adore this song! I really think that her music will be taken seriously, unlike the poptart stuff that Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton have been trying to sing (trying being the operative word). Her voice is deep and penetrating , and I will definitely be watching out for her.

Also ... I mostly started this blog just so I could comment on this. I wanted to be the first of my group of friends to 'discover' her. Because they never believe me and don't take me seriously. So they probably won't believe that I like this music. Not that I'm super into alternative stuff, or that I 'm a huge fanatic on listening to unknown bands. I just would like to prove that I am deeper than ... well just deep. I do have a silly side and I'm usually quite light hearted, but hopefully this blog will reveal the more serious side (NO comments on that statement guys).
